Best Timesuckers of March

So my life this past month has been sucked by so many awesome things. Since this is the inaugural timesucker post, it might be a bit longer than most.
I will try to link what I can. I am so excited to share some of my favorite things. Some are enriching life experiences, others are purely guilty pleasures.

The classic and enchanting tale as old as time has been remade into a live action film. Cue girly shrieks. I love this movie. I loved the original. I love the new one. In fact, it was the first movie I ever saw in a theater and I remember the feeling and experience vividly. So is the hype purely nostalgia? Probably, but who cares! They retained the essence of the original. Plus, it is exposing future generations to Belle. I have always related to Belle. I always had my nose in a book and was considered an outsider until I found my prince charming. Granted, there is the Stockholm thing, but we can overlook that because at least she is smart and totally badass.

So I was introduced to this podcast in my bible study. They recommended the Refugee episode. It was done so well and presented such a balanced perspective, that I have now become obsessed with this podcast. The hosts are charming and they share their awesomes – maybe a slight influence to this post. I have been introduced to so many wonderful “awesomes” and have had some major life-revelations. I know, big stuff. It also got me into the personality test. I highly suggest taking a moment to check out 16 personalities quiz right now. Seriously, it takes less than 10 minutes. They have also given me tips to clean, and anyone who knows me knows this isn’t my strong suit, but it is actually helping. I mean, my house won’t be in any home decor magazines any time soon, but it is less sticky. If I have earphones while running, cleaning, doing anything basically…I am listening to this podcast.

I love Liane Moriarty. This was actually one of her earlier works. It is up there with Big Little Lies and The Husband’s Secret. Imagine losing 10 years of your life, would you even recognize who you’ve become? This book takes a look at the journey to finding oneself again.

Drew Barrymore is the most hilarious zombie in a while. This comedy features a successful working mom. She has it all until she becomes a zombie from unknown means. The overall plot is predictable, but the acting and situational comedy leaves you wanting more. Plus, it’s only 30 minutes, perfect for busy parents after the kids are asleep. Please, for the love of everything, wait until they are asleep. Think HBO or Showtime, not primetime. It gets graphic. Then it gets awesome.

I have learned more about F. Scott Fitzgerald from this Amazon original than anything I learned in English classes. For one thing, I got interested and looked up all of his works so that I could follow the progression through the series. None were on sale so I have yet to read any other than that time in 10th grade, which I don’t remember. Tangent much. Anyway, I think that Christina Ricci gives an incredible performance of Zelda. This show shows the absolute decadence and downward spiral thereafter. Also under 30 minutes, so another easy show to binge.

Spring is in the air, everything is blooming and the kiddo is itching to get out. Time for a trip to the Arboretum. Whether I am trying to get steps while enjoying a scenic view or pretend to be able to picnic with a two-year old boy, we really enjoy the arboretum. It is also getting warm enough for the splash pads. Yay for naps after a trip to the Arboretum.

Sorry, guys. Not pretty, but pollen is gross around here. Seriously, everything has a bright, yellow neon coat. I wash things daily and the next it is covered in pollen. Okay, so maybe not daily, but I tried it once and it only lasted a day so I made an inference. Anyway, I have felt like someone has taken a sledgehammer to my head in a very specific location. I have even had allergy-induced heartburn. That’s right, I am no allergy novice over here, but they have been significantly worse this month than in years past. I have discovered allergy nose spray. Clariton, Zyrtec and Allegra (generics of all) have created nose sprays. This stuff is wonderful and works much faster than a pill. I have also tried oils for this. Don’t get me wrong, oils are great, but this stuff is magic and actually works. *insert I am not a doctor disclaimer here*

I hope you enjoy some of the things that are sucking my time. I hope to do one of these once a month, so I will need suggestions.

What are the things you love or love to hate that are sucking your time?
